When The Power Goes Out, You Stay On

Standby generator installation and service for homes and businesses across Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

Installed by licensed electricians. Serviced by certified generator technicians. Family owned since 1995.

When Storms, Outages, Or Equipment Failures

When storms, outages, or equipment failures take your power out, a standby generator keeps your home or business running. The system sits outside, senses the outage, and starts automatically. A transfer switch moves your property off the utility and onto generator power, then moves it back when the utility returns, so nothing is required from you. There are no cords to run and no fuel to haul, because the system operates on the natural gas or propane already serving your property.

Corrigan Generators has been installing and servicing these systems since 2004. We are the generator division of Corrigan Electric, a family owned electrical company that has served Kentucky and Southern Indiana since 1995, with licensed electricians on every installation.

Backup Power For Homes And Businesses

Home Generators

Keep your household running through an outage. We size the system to your home, install it with licensed electricians, and stay with it afterward. Whole-home coverage or essential circuits, whichever fits your priorities and your budget.

Business Generators

An outage stops transactions, spoils inventory, and sends people home. We design and install backup power for medical and dental offices, restaurants, retail, professional offices, churches, and nonprofits across our service area.

How We Size Your System

A man wearing glasses, a white shirt, gray pants, and shoe covers is working on electrical panels in a room with gray walls and a wood trim. He appears to be adjusting or inspecting the circuit breakers or switches within the panel.
A man in an orange shirt and gray pants is standing outdoors next to a solar panel on a portable stand, with lush green trees in the background.

Most people call with a size in mind, usually one they saw at a neighbor's house. Sizing leads every recommendation we make, because it is the part of the decision that determines whether you are satisfied years later.

A project manager from Corrigan Generators comes out and walks your property with you. We review your electrical panel, your gas service, and the equipment you already have, so the recommendation reflects your real power demand rather than an estimate. Then we give you a detailed recommendation of the system that will work for your property, and we explain clearly why we selected it.

In many cases that recommendation is smaller than what a customer expected. We recommend only what your property truly needs, and nobody here is paid to sell you more than that.

If someone in your home depends on oxygen, a ventilator, powered mobility equipment, or refrigerated medication, tell us. Those circuits come first, then monitoring installation as it is a critical preventative maintenance tool and convenience."

For some families, an outage is a medical situation. Brooks uses a ventilator that holds only a handful of hours of battery power. When a storm took his family's power out and their generator tripped offline, they called us and told us about Brooks, and we got someone out to them.

"I cannot even describe the peace of mind when a generator kicks on in the middle of a storm."

When Power Is Not a Convenience

Brands We Offer

Corrigan Generators is a certified dealer and service provider for Briggs & Stratton, Generac, and Kohler. We are certified to install, service, and perform warranty repairs on all three, and our technicians are trained across the full lineup and recertified every year.

Corrigan is one of the top Briggs & Stratton dealers in the country, and select models carry a full ten year warranty. During your site evaluation we compare the differences that will actually affect you, including warranty terms, sound levels, footprint, and lead times.

Ongoing Service and Maintenance

A generator sits outdoors through rain, snow, ice, and heat, and then it has to start on the one day you need it. Many companies complete the installation and move on. Corrigan built its generator business around everything that happens afterward.

Every system we install includes remote monitoring and the first year of service. If your generator has a problem, our monitoring system notifies us before you may realize anything is wrong. Our staff will reach out, explain what the notification means, and schedule a visit. In some cases the problem can be handled through the monitoring system and corrected long before you hear from us. Corrigan cares, and we want your generator ready when the power goes out.

We also service and repair generators we did not install, and we handle manufacturer warranty claims on your behalf. We are still servicing systems we put in more than twenty years ago.

About Corrigan Generators

Corrigan Electric opened in 1995 as a family business in Louisville, Kentucky. More than thirty years later it is still family owned and operated, now under second generation leadership, with licensed electricians serving homeowners, businesses, and builders across Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

Corrigan Generators has grown to the point that it was time to bring it out from under the wing of Corrigan Electric. Since 2004, the generator systems we install have provided backup power to families and businesses when the power is out. The same family, the same licensed electricians and certified generator technicians, and the same phone number you already know.

Site Evaluation and Sizing

Detailed Recommendation in Writing

We recommend a specific system, explain clearly why we selected it, and provide a written proposal before anything is decided.

We do not publish pricing, because the cost depends on the size of the system, where it can be placed, whether you need a gas meter upgrade, and how far the gas and electric have to run. You will have the full number in writing after we see your property, and nothing is committed until you approve it.

Customer Reviews

We do not need to tell you we do good work. Our customers do that for us.
